Does your website need to be digitally accessible?
Who is subject to the WCAG compliance requirement?
Until now, the requirement to meet WCAG guidelines has primarily applied to public institutions – such as government offices, schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and cultural institutions.
In mid-2025, the scope of sectors obligated to follow WCAG guidelines will expand. Specifically, from June 28, 2025, the regulations will also apply to
private companies engaged in e-commerce that are not microenterprises. This means that many websites – including commercial ones – will have to comply with digital accessibility standards.
This applies to both products and services across many industries:
- Products: computers, smartphones, payment terminals, ticket machines, e-book readers, and other self-service devices.
- Services: online stores, e-service platforms, banking websites, and transactional systems.
