Current Situation – previous loan eligibility calculator
Some time ago, our partner managing a mortgage-related service approached us for assistance. The request concerned the redevelopment of the existing loan eligibility calculator available on the website hipoteki.net.
What was wrong with the current solution? At first glance, it was clear that the tool required a complete visual refresh. The most noticeable issue was the need to redesign the application interface, which was outdated and not user-friendly.

Moreover, users had to go through five steps, filling out numerous fields, just to check their loan eligibility. This lengthy process discouraged them from completing the form. As a result, only a small percentage of users reached the results page. That page also needed major improvements—it looked unappealing and only provided minimal information about the loan installment and estimated loan eligibility. Users were left feeling disappointed—after spending so much time filling out the form, they didn’t receive satisfactory answers.

However, the biggest flaw of the calculator was its incorrect algorithm, which significantly overestimated the loan installment, lowering the estimated repayment ability and misleading users.
As you can see, the task was not easy—especially considering that we had to act quickly. The hipoteki.net website ranks in the top ten organic Google search results and attracts tens of thousands of visitors per month!
Starting work on the new plugin
After intensive discussions and a detailed action plan, we got to work. In collaboration with the client and with the support of a graphic designer, we developed a completely new design for both the calculator and the calculation algorithm. As a result, our tool not only meets business requirements and the latest UX guidelines from Google but is also a breakthrough solution in the mortgage industry.
Other calculators on the market do not provide users with such detailed and accurate information about their loan eligibility and potential property purchase options.

The most noticeable change is the simplified, clearer appearance of the tool.

Taking into account user habits, we reduced the number of steps required (to only three) and minimized the amount of required data entry. The form now requires only five key pieces of information:
- Preferred loan repayment period,
- Interest rate,
- Number of people in the household,
- Total monthly income,
- All monthly obligations.
Each parameter includes a tooltip (desktop only) to help users understand the required information.

Before users enter their own data, they can view a sample result based on default values. The results page includes:
- Loan eligibility estimation for the given example,
- Maximum loan installment,
- Loan eligibility after optimization,
- Maximum property price affordable with the estimated loan eligibility,

- Impact of living costs on loan eligibility.
All data is displayed in easy-to-read charts and advisory boxes.

The contact form now has an attractive design and requires only two essential details: name and phone number.

Incorrect data entry
The form now features automatic phone number verification. Previously, users had to enter an SMS verification code. Now, the system automatically checks whether the phone number exists in the operator’s database, alerting the user of potential errors.
Step 3: Personalized results page
In the final step, the user sees a customized loan eligibility simulation based on their provided data.
